In March Muskingum, like many other schools, will begin sending out Financial Aid Awards. Your Financial Aid Award will include information on the cost to attend Muskingum (including tuition, fees, room, meal plan and books). We will also have a list of all financial aid that you qualify for, which could include scholarships, awards, grants and loans from Muskingum, grants from the state, federal grants, loans or work study eligibility. Your award will also list the amount you would be expected to pay out-of-pocket for the upcoming academic year.
When you receive your Financial Aid Award, you should review it and the information that comes along with it to make sure you understand everything that is listed. You may be receiving aid awards from other schools at this time as well. It is a good idea to sit down as a family to discuss the aid awards and how you as a family will take care of any remaining costs. If you have questions about the aid award please call our office at 800.752.6082 so that we can go over the award with you.
Many students find that higher education is not possible without taking education loans. If you find that you will need to take loans you should use your federal loans first. All students who complete the FAFSA are eligible for a Federal Direct Stafford Loan. To receive yours you need to complete the subsidized/unsubsidized Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Entrance Counseling.
If additional assistance is needed beyond the Direct Stafford Loan, many families will use payment plans, parent loans or co-signed student loans. Information on all of these options can be found on our website. http://www.muskingum.edu/home/financialaid/onlineloantools.html.
