From one summer to the next

Last summer I spent my free months in New Concord, working for Admissions and basking in the splendor of a quiet campus. This summer, I have found myself in the same place, working for International Admissions and trying to find activities to kill all of the time I’ve seemed to gain as the days pass. One thing I remember myself doing last summer to pass the time was watching the new Otto and Fran Walter Hall be constructed. I loved that I was part of something, that this building would stand longer than the years I will be on this earth, yet I was part of its birth, watching it grow, brick by brick into the sky. Now, this summer, I am watching the final touches be added. It’s to be completed in the fall. I remember, as an incoming Muskie planning on entering as a Music major, hearing about how a new building was in the works for Muskingum and how the music program would move into that hall. I thought it was just a rumor and as my interests evolved, so did my major, and now as a journalist I have still found a way to still be a part of this building. But, instead of performing in it as a pianist, I will be documenting it’s birth through words.

When you are in front of something for so many months, it’s hard to really notice and care about how something has changed. With the pictures below, you can see how the music hall has transformed from last summer to this one.
