A Rewarding Spring Break

Hello all,
As many of you know, I spent my spring break with Habitat for Humanity in Athens, Alabama. We spent the time working on houses in weather that wasn’t nearly as warm as we had hoped. The cold aside, though, it was a really great experience.
Last year was the first year that I was able to attend the Habitat for Humanity spring break trip through contact with members of my sorority, Alpha Sigma Alpha.
Much like last year, we met many nice people who thanked us again and again for being selfless enough to work for others over spring break rather than taking a vacation ourselves.
In my opinion, though, we got the best of both worlds. Sure, we spent time working on a house–but it was a fun experience and we learned all kinds of new things. We also got to do other fun things with our day off and on the Saturday of our return, such as visiting the local Veterans’ Museum and spending a little time in Nashville.
I particularly enjoyed the Veterans’ Museum because we were able to listen to the life of a German woman who had been alive and living in Germany during WWII. It was definitely a unique experience that I never could have imagined.

All in all, I’m so grateful for the opportunity I had this spring break.
I hope you’re having a great week!
Kelsey
