The lesson of giving

Hi everyone,
I hope you’re having a great week.
Last night, my sorority had an event where we got together with two of our advisers and talked about relationships between women. We all got a piece of paper and wrote down the negative things people have said about us, which didn’t feel very good. Then we turned the paper over and wrote our name. We passed the sheets of paper around the circle and wrote something nice about each person. It was great to get that piece of paper back and see how much I matter in the life of others.
I think one of the greatest things I’ve learned at Muskingum is how easily people don’t know their value. I make a point, every day, of telling people I care about how important they are and wishing them a great day.
It’s a simple thing, but it’s something that I’ve learned a lot from. I also realized how great it is to receive the feedback from people who also wish me well. It’s nice to feel appreciated.
I guess the lesson here, ultimately, is the reward of working to make the lives of others better.
I’m really grateful that my time at Muskingum has allowed me to learn that lesson.

Have a great remainder of your week,
Kelsey
