Go National or Go Home!

With fall recruitment rolling around in a couple weeks, I can already feel the nerves of the rushees, hoping at the end of this one week that they will find the sorority or fraternity home during their time at Muskingum. One question that appears to be a favorite to be asked to Greeks is “Why did you join (insert group name here)?” Well, here’s my take on it.

I joined Alpha Sigma Alpha for a few different reasons. For starters, the values that ASA had implemented were ones that I believed could develop me into the woman that I desired to be for so long: a well rounded one. Through this group, I was able to explore different interests that I never knew existed, as well as deepen my current ones.

Second, the idea of potentially finding another sister virtually anywhere in the country is pretty darn awesome ๐Ÿ™‚ Who would’ve thought that the sister I sat next to at District Days was not only the same major as me, but hailed from the same city too? Or that I’d discover that the on site nurse at the summer camp I worked was an ASA from Miami University of Ohio??

Third, I love how ASA encourages each member to not hide her quirks and imperfections, but to embrace and enhance them. We should never be so afraid to be who we are. We should let our inner light shine as bright as the North Star and develop into poised and purposeful women. ย Some of the greatest poised and purposeful women, in my book, are those who didn’t let their flaws stop them from becoming great.

I’ve gained much more from being a national Greek, yet these three are what I hold dearest to my heart. ย And I’ll never trade it for anything ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy Rushing!
