Recruitment week!

Recruitment week!

What a tiring week! As some of the other bloggers have mentioned, it’s recruitment week here at Muskingum! I’m very excited to participate. Being that I just transferred here AND I’m commuting from home, joining a sorority is a great opportunity for me to get involved and, even better, have a home away from home. 🙂 (As a side note, I should mention to all independents and future freshmen reading this that Greek life is not necessarily the wild partying pictured in movies!)

As Saturday approaches, both the rushees and active sorority girls (and fraternity guys, although their’s works a bit differently) eagerly await the decision of the other, until the girls pledge and join their new family!

Really, I was skeptical of sororities at first. I thought all Greek groups were the same stereotypes as were in the movies. However, as I’ve gotten to know the groups this week, I’ve realized that that is NOT the case. I’m so happy I’ve decided to come of my shell to do this, whether I pledge or not — it’s drawn me out of my comfort zone, and I could not be more pleased about it. I’m meeting girls I can talk to and some I even feel instantly comfortable with, which is something I’ve always had trouble with. I make friends with a lot of dudes, so female friends are much needed. Plus, I’m an only child, so I’ve never really known what it’s like to have a sister – let alone multiple ones!

Can’t wait to see what happens the rest of this week!
