Holiday Happiness

Hello everyone! Hopefully you all had a great Thanksgiving and didn’t eat as much pie as I did 🙂 One of my favorite things about being home for Thanksgiving break is the traditions that we have created as a family at home. From decorating the Christmas tree, to our towns lighting ceremony downtown it always sets the mood for the upcoming holiday.

This year is a little different than my previous two years here at Muskingum because we only have two weeks until winter break whereas usually we have three weeks. However, I am not complaining! With the last week of classes underway and finals week approaching it is easy to find yourself stressed out about all your last minute projects, assignments and papers due.

One thing I love about this campus is all the wonderful events that are put on during finals week and Christmas time. Today for example, at common hour (which is the time every Tuesday and Thursday that all students have no classes) there is an ugly sweater making event going on that all students can participate in. The sweaters are supplied and so are all the decorations and embellishments that you could imagine to make the best ugly sweater ever!

In the fall semester, on the Sunday before finals week begins there is always Vespers service. This is a beautiful and relaxing holiday concert put on by a few of our music department groups. Filled with readings, devotions, and song it is a great chance to take a study break and get in the Christmas spirit as you prepare for what could be a “long week ahead.”

Finally, a favorite event on campus of all students is the late night finals breakfast. Usually the Friday before finals, everyone gathers in Patton Dining Hall around 11 p.m. to enjoy a free breakfast hosted by our lovely student life staff and dining services crew. Donuts, crepes, waffles, eggs, bacon…what more could you ask for as a college student??

As the holiday season is in sight I hope everyone spreads some good cheer and don’t forget…Santa is watching!! 🙂
