New Dorm Addition: Flowers

Last year my aunt gave me a small violet to keep in my dorm. However, over the summer, our dogs got to him, so I was short one plant upon returning to campus. Luckily for me, though, for Valentine’s Day, my aunt got me a new violet to replace the one I had lost.

He’s nothing really special, but I’m glad to have another plant in the dorm again. He doesn’t need much help other than water and keeping him in the sunlight, but it’s still fun to take care of a plant for some reason. And it’s definitely something different to do in the middle of the chaotic college life.

If you feel up to it, I’d recommend getting a small plant to keep in your dorm room. Before I lost the my new plant’s predecessor, he had grown to be pretty big. If you keep a plant throughout your college years, you can see it grow with you!

Here’s a picture of my violet–Yunan–right now. He’s small, but I’m hoping that he’ll survive to get bigger!
