I’ve been published!

Hi all,
This week I’m excited to share the news of my publication in First Circle, Muskingum’s literary magazine. Last year I was the Featured Writer, and this year two of my poems were included.

The first poem is titled I [do]n’t want kids, and it’s about the choice to have kids or not, obviously. What’s special about this one is that it reads from one line to the next, but each line also reads as a single thought.

The second poem is titled Nanjing, 1937. It’s about the “Rape of Nanjing” (contextual information included in the photo), which I learned about in my Japenese history class. It was an event that really stuck with me after we talked about it, so I wrote a poem about it. The italicized parts are actual quotes from the recollections of people who experienced the event.

I’m honored to be published again this year.

Hope your week is going great!
