Weathering the Weather

In honor of the rain today, I thought I’d put a few tips on here for weathering the weather in college.

  1. Do check the weather before you leave. There’s nothing worse than going outside when you’re already running late to class and realizing it’s much colder or much warmer than you thought. Then you’re stuck freezing or roasting… or being even later to class.
  2. Invest in a tiny umbrella. Keep it in your backpack all the time. It will save you from getting soaked on more than one occasion. My tiny umbrella is the reason I’m writing this blog post right now and not changing out of sopping clothes.
  3. Similarly, buy good raincoat and/or boots. You’ll get your money’s worth. I promise.
  4. A warm winter coat, as well as a warm hat, mittens, and scarf, are a must! Maybe you made it through high school with only hoodies, but do remember that in college you walk outside to get to classes! You don’t just have a ten-yard sprint to the bus at the beginning and end of the day.
  5. Lastly, go sledding. Dance in the rain. Jump in a mud puddle. Seriously. Take advantage of the fact that you don’t have to be a full-fledged adult just yet… 😉
