You can have fun in Career Services!

I have been blessed with the opportunity to work for Career Services for a second year and I have to say, I think it is one of the best jobs on campus. What do I do in Career Services? Well, that depends on where I’m needed, but mostly I assist the fantastic Jackie Vascura and anyone else that needs my help in the TOC. Last Thursday, we had a Career Services Open House and gave out free cotton candy and ice cream. Coming back to the Open House after Fall Break was so relaxing because I got to see so many students leave with smiles on their faces.

If you’re afraid to go into Career Services for any reason, I encourage you to seek out Jackie as a resource. She’s approachable, super friendly, and just like everyone else that works at Muskingum, she cares about the success of every student. We have resume workshops where you can learn how to have your resume stand out, and we offer interview workshops that teach you how to dress for an interview and prepare you for questions you may be asked. Once a semester, Career Services hosts what is called an Etiquette Dinner, which is a wonderful event because Jackie teaches you how to present yourself with class while eating a meal in front of potential employers.

One of the best parts of my job is updating the sample resumes in the Career Services Office. I decided long ago that students are superheroes and therefore sample resumes must also have the alter egos of popular superheroes.  I think my favorite resume so far is putting Professor Xavier as the sample for the Engineering resume.

Ta!
