Late Nights with Seminar

Senior year. Seminar.

What are the first thoughts that come into your head? If “daunting” and “scary” weren’t on that list, then I salute you, my friend. Senior seminar is like your last hurrah on big projects in which you research and get to show how awesome you are.

But it doesn’t have to be all bad. In fact, I frequently party. And by party, I mean I work into the wee hours of dawn researching, writing, and listening to music that helps me get in the zone. I think one of my favorite parts of seminar is working on it with someone who is working on the same seminar. Lots of late nights eating pizza rolls, finding research that fits your thesis and two am giggles over nothing make working on seminar all worth it.

It feels good not to be alone, especially when the focus of your research is on the same book. In this semester’s English seminar, there are only two of us which makes it nice. This allows more time for your professor to look over your work and give you guidance when you’re stuck in the midst of your research.

Seminar can be tough, but in the end you’ll feel so accomplished. I, for one, will celebrate by building a fort and watching Christmas movies.
