Let’s Talk Brewed!

Brewed Awakenings is a great aspect of campus that most students aren’t aware of until they actually begin life at Muskingum. Every Thursday night from 9-11pm, a different group, club, or Greek organization hosts Brewed Awakenings in Kelly Coffee Shop across from Patton’s dining hall. There are different kinds of coffees, hot chocolate, and seasonal drinks such as cider or eggnog, as well as snacks, desserts, and oftentimes a taco bar. Depending on who hosts it, there can be music, games, bingo, raffles, and usually there are many prizes that can be won, such as Muskingum apparel, sweets, and even CD’s and DVD’s.

Last night’s Brewed, for instance, was hosted by the dance team. There was music and dancing, a dessert bar complete with peppermint bark, peanut brittle, cookies, cupcakes, chocolate covered pretzels, and even mini boxed pies. There was an ugly sweater contest with great prizes including blankets, dessert popcorn, chocolates, a mug, drawstring santa bags, and many others.

In case you aren’t already impressed, the Sexual Responsibility Committee had also been holding a No Shave November beard growing contest (complete with fake beards to decorate if you were a girl or couldn’t grow a beard )and the winners were announced during Brewed to receive their prizes!

It took me a little while to start coming when I first began my time here at Muskingum, but as soon as I did I was hooked. It’s always a cozy and enjoyable atmosphere, so whenever you decide to come to Muskingum, check out Brewed!
